One MIT Terrorist Surrendered, Temporary Total 25 People

JAKARTA - A terrorist group from the East Indonesia Mujahideen (MIT) with the initials MRW surrendered himself to the police. Thus, 25 terrorist suspects have been arrested.

"One suspect has surrendered himself, he is from the MIT group," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, when confirmed, Thursday, May 19.

This 22-year-old man, said Ramadhan, turned himself in on Wednesday, May 18. However, the reasons behind MRW's decision to surrender to the police have not yet been detailed.

"The person concerned gave himself up in Bahoea Reko Village, Bungku Barat District, Morowali Regency," he said.

Currently, MRW is undergoing intensive examination. He will be investigated various things about the MIT terrorist group and its involvement.

Previously, Densus 88 Antitero arrested 24 suspected terrorists from the East Indonesia Mujahidin (MIT) group. In fact, some of them are supporters of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

They were arrested in several locations, among others, 22 people were arrested in Central Sulawesi, 1 person in Bekasi and 1 more in East Kalimantan. The arrest took place on Saturday, May 14, 2022.

The identities of the terrorist suspects include MIR, BSS, ETO, MB, IS, FM, TT, SH, H, AWS. Then, DRM, TL, AMW, MN, EA, DM, S, RK, LY, RK, ISR, MAM, K, FS.
