President Jokowi's Impeachment Issue, Gerindra: Relax, The People Are Getting Smarter
JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives, Habiburokhman, assesses that the current public is not easily provoked to hold demonstrations to raise the issue of impeaching the government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
According to the Gerindra Party politician, today's society is getting smarter and it's not easy to get caught up in the news that is circulating.
"Relax, the people are getting smarter. They will not be easily provoked by anyone," Habiburokhman told journalists in Jakarta, citing Antara, Sunday, May 15.
However, he welcomes the public to express their aspirations and opinions in public through demonstrations. However, provided that the submission of the claim does not violate the provisions of the law.
"Please do whatever they demand as long as it is in a way that is in accordance with the provisions of the law," he said.
Habiburokhman understands that the accuracy of formulating demands will affect the movement itself. According to him, the more reasonable the demands, the more support the movement will get from the people.
In the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, the provisions regarding the dismissal of the President and/or Vice President during their term of office can be seen in the provisions of Article 3 paragraph (3), Article 7A, Article 7B, and Article 24C paragraph (2) of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Law Number 24 of 2003 concerning the Constitutional Court Articles 80 to 84 regulates the mechanism for impeachment.
Previously, a number of elements of society from workers, such as the Movement for Labor with the People (Gebrak), would hold a large demonstration again on May 21, 2022, to coincide with the momentum of reform. The action was the culmination of a series of demonstrations in various regions.
