Asking His Staff To Enforce Law With Conscience, West Aceh Police Chief: Not Just With Rules

JAKARTA - West Aceh Police Chief, Grand Commissioner Adjutant of Police Pandji Santoso, asked the police in this area to be able to enforce the law in society with justice, restorative justice, and use conscience.

"Especially for the detectives, I ask that law enforcement must be fair and use conscience. Not just with rules," said Police Chief Pandji Santoso, quoted from Antara, Sunday

This, he conveyed when delivering the mandate during the handover of the new positions of the police chiefs and the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit at the West Aceh Police Headquarters in Meulaboh.

The police chief asked his staff to enforce the law in the community with justice, by prioritizing the joints or instruments in the community.

Among them are customary law, qanun (regional regulations), local wisdom, by involving and coordinating with ulama, traditional leaders, including community instruments at the lower level.

Police Chief Pandji Santoso also emphasized to his staff that there should be no upright enforcement of the rules without a conscience, and without a previous restorative justice process, including in the sector police (polsek).

"If you (police) enforce the rules without a conscience, then you will face me," the police chief emphasized.

He also asked all police officers in West Aceh to be able to communicate, and collaborate with all parties such as the media, community leaders and civil elements, and other elements, so that the cooperation carried out by the police will benefit the entire community.

The Chief of Police, Pandji Santoso, also asked the police to protect the good name of the police and the West Aceh Police by taking good and commendable actions in the community, he said.
