Formula E In Jakarta Expected To Awaken Public Enthusiasm For Car Racing

JAKARTA - Automotive observer Eka Budhiansyah hopes that the Formula E event can generate public enthusiasm for the open-wheeler racing event.

"With Formula E, people's enthusiasm for open-wheeler sports is expected to be revived," said Eka as quoted by Antara, Saturday, May 14.

Eka said that Indonesia had not held an international open-wheel car racing event for a long time. The last time, he said, was the A1 Grand Prix (A1GP) which was held at the Sentul Circuit, West Java in 2006.

According to Eka, the Formula E event is the right momentum to introduce the sport of open-wheel car racing, as well as become a sport tourism for the community.

He also hopes that the Formula E circuit in the future can be used for other racing events so that it can attract a wider range of automotive sports fans.

"When it comes to the Formula E circuit, hopefully later this circuit can be used for other races. Hopefully, the Ancol circuit can be opened to the public," said Eka.

The Jakarta E-Prix electric car racing event or Jakarta E-Prix will be held on June 4, 2022 in Ancol, North Jakarta.

Currently, the construction of the 2.4 kilometer circuit has been 100 percent completed and is in the finalization stage to build supporting facilities such as an audience stage, race car garage (paddock) and guardrail.

The organizing committee provides around 60 thousand tickets with the cheapest price of IDR 250 thousand and the most expensive one of IDR 10 million.
