Qualify For The 2022 Thomas Cup Final, Indonesia Faces India
JAKARTA — Indonesia secured a ticket to the 2022 Thomas Cup final after a dramatic 3-2 win over Japan at the 2 Impact Arena, Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday, 13 May 2022.
The first figure for Indonesia was contributed by Anthony Sinisuka Ginting. The men's singles, ranked fifth in the world, defeated his rival Kento Momota in the rubber game.
This is Anthony's fifth win from 16 meetings with Momoto.
Apart from that, this was also his first win that took place in three games. Previously, Anthony had always won in straight sets over the former world number one.
A dramatic victory was also obtained by Indonesia in the second match against Japan. Men's doubles Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Mohammad Ahsan fought three games to beat Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi.
Japan then reduced the position to 1-2 in the third match. Their men's singles Kenta Nishimoto managed to beat Jonathan Christie two straight games.

Indonesia is the defending champion in the Thomas Cup and is targeted to defend the title. Last year, Indonesia won the title after winning over China.
