416 Rombeng Motorcycle Exhaust Confiscated By The Temanggung Police For 4 Months Destroyed
JAKARTA - 416 exhausts that did not meet the Indonesian National Standard, which were confiscated by the Traffic Unit of the Temanggung Police, Central Java, were destroyed by cutting.
The Temanggung Police Chief, AKBP Agus Puryadi, said on Friday, May 13, that hundreds of non-standard exhausts had been confiscated from motorcyclists in the last 4 months.
"We continue to carry out socialization regarding the ban on the use of exhausts that do not comply with this standard," Agus said as quoted by Antara.
He said that for the time being, law enforcement related to the use of non-standard exhaust is still in restorative justice, meaning that owners of motorized vehicles using such exhausts are only told to replace their vehicle's exhaust with standard exhaust.
"So we call the owner of the vehicle to replace the exhaust at the Police Headquarters," he said.
However, he said, if you are still determined to use a non-standard exhaust, then action will be taken in accordance with the law.
"While it has not been ticketed, they have only been told to replace it with a standard exhaust. In the future, it is possible to take action according to the law," he said.
According to him, the action against the use of non-standard exhaust is not only applied to motorcycle users during daily activities, but also to the public at certain times, such as convoys of vehicles.
He conveyed that the use of non-standard exhaust is very disturbing for the comfort of the community, especially when crossing village roads and alleys in the village.
"By using a standard exhaust, the Temanggung area becomes more shady and less noisy, we must respect each other," he said.
The Head of the Temanggung Police Traffic Unit, AKP Komang Karisma, said that drivers using non-standard exhausts violated Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning Traffic, Article 285 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 106 paragraph (3).
He explained that in accordance with the law, anyone who drives a motorcycle on a road that does not meet the technical and road-worthy requirements, which includes rearview mirrors, horns, headlights, brake lights, directional lights, reflectors, speed gauges, exhaust, and tire groove depth as referred to in Article 106 paragraph (3) in conjunction with Article 48 paragraph (2) and paragraph (3) shall be punished with imprisonment for a maximum of 1 month or a fine of a maximum of Rp.250,000.
