The 2024 Election Is In Sight, But The Maluku Attorney General's Office Continues To Investigate Corruption In The 2014 Election Budget
JAKARTA - Maluku Prosecutor's Office investigators have resumed their investigation into alleged corruption in the 2014 Presidential and Legislative Elections budget at the West Seram Regency KPUD (SBB) which cost the state Rp9 billion. They examined 12 witnesses and immediately clarified the audit team of the Provincial Inspectorate.
"The investigation took place at the SBB Attorney's Office on Thursday (12/1) for 6 hours against 12 witnesses for the two suspects with the initials MDL and HBR," said Head of Legal Information and Public Relations of the Maluku Prosecutor's Office, Wahyudi Kareba in Ambon, Friday, May 13.
MDL is a Commitment Making Officer (PPK) at the SBB Regency KPUD and his colleague HBR as a former KPUD Treasurer has been named a suspect since mid-April 2022.
The determination of the two suspects and continued with the agenda of examining witnesses related to allegations of corruption in the 2014 election budget with the mode of making fictitious accountability reports, inflating, and cutting budgets that did not match the mechanism.
The 12 people who have just been examined as witnesses to the two suspects consist of a former KPUD member and 11 staff at the local KPUD Secretariat.
"The examination of the witnesses is still about their respective main duties and the provincial inspectorate auditor team was also present to directly clarify the statements of the witnesses," said Wahyudi quoted from Antara.
MDL and HBR are suspected of violating Article 2 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Corruption Crimes in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.
Wahyudi added that there are currently two suspects in this case.
