Minister Basuki Urges PUPR Ministry To Accelerate Infrastructure Spending
JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono encouraged the ranks of the PUPR Ministry to maintain a rhythm and accelerate infrastructure spending in order to leverage economic growth.
"Please accelerate, at the end of May 2022 we will conduct a Midterm Review. This year is very crucial for us to be able to take advantage of in lightening the burden of the 2023 budget. But the acceleration step must be to maintain product quality with good, competitive, transparent, and good governance of procurement of goods and services. accountability," said Minister Basuki in a written statement received in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, May 11.
The PUPR Minister added that the PUPR Ministry's budget expenditure is expected to contribute directly to the acceleration of the recovery of socio-economic conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, by absorbing labor and maintaining people's purchasing power.
In addition, Minister Basuki advised the importance of using domestic product components to maintain the wheels of the national economy.
In infrastructure spending, the Minister of PUPR emphasized that all materials used must be domestically produced, if forced to import, the Director General must know and if there is really no domestic production.
"Post-pandemic, we encourage the use of domestic products. Previously, the order was to prioritize domestic production, now imports are prohibited," said Minister Basuki.
The Minister of PUPR also expressed President Joko Widodo's appreciation to all Ministries/Institutions in the implementation of this year's Lebaran Homecoming, including the Ministry of PUPR in preparing road and bridge infrastructure to provide smooth, safe, secure, and comfortable travel for travelers.
