Dozens Of Houses In Langkat Were Damaged By Strong Winds When It Rained
LANGKAT - A total of 17 housing units in Tebing Tanjung Selamat Village, Padang Tualang District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra, were damaged by strong winds that occurred during heavy rains.
Padang Tualang Police Chief AKP Sutrisno said the strong winds that hit three hamlets in Tebing Tanjung Selamat Village damaged dozens of houses and blew away the roofs of houses belonging to residents.
"Personnel together with local village officials carried out direct checks in the field to collect data on the houses damaged by the strong winds and heavy rains in order to anticipate unwanted things," he said.
"There were no casualties from this incident, while the material losses suffered by residents cannot be estimated," he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 11.
His party also coordinated with Forkopimca and the village to respond to the incident in order to receive further handling.
"From the results of checking at the temporary location, it was recorded that 17 units of houses were lightly and severely damaged. Some of their roofs were blown away by the wind. Data collection is continuously being carried out by the team in the field," he said.
