Jambi Provincial Government Protects Endemic Fish Conservation Through Lubuk Larangan, What Is It?
JAMBI - The Jambi Provincial Government maintains the preservation of local endemic fish in the area such as semah fish and belido fish through the lubuk prohibition scheme which is spread throughout the districts and cities in the area.
"Lubuk prohibition is one way to maintain the sustainability of rivers and local endemic fish," said Head of the Jambi Province Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service (DKP) Tema Wisman in Jambi, Antara, Tuesday, May 10.
Lubuk Ban is a river or lake in villages in Jambi Province. Where the fish in the depths of the prohibition may not be taken within a certain period of time.
Harvesting fish in the bottom of the prohibition is based on the agreement of the local community, some are done once a year or even twice a year.
And at the time specified, the community around Lubuk is prohibited from taking fish using traditional fishing gear that does not damage the environment.
To date, there are 367 prohibitions spread across all regencies and cities in Jambi Province.
"Every year the number of prohibitions continues to grow, of the eleven regencies and cities in Jambi, the majority are in Bungo Regency," said Tema Wisman.
The Wisman theme explained that the formation of the prohibition pit was based on the agreement of the local community. In the agreement, the length and width of the prohibition zone and the core zone of the prohibition zone are determined.
In the customary decision of the local community, harvesting fish in the forbidden pit is designated for the benefit of the community, such as for the construction of mosques and for other purposes. So that the existence of the prohibition pit is very beneficial for the benefit of the community and the preservation of the river environment.
"The prohibition area is anti-illegal gold mining, so there is no PETI activity in the prohibition pit," said Tema Wisman.
