Salihin Kicked His 4-year-old Stepdaughter In The Stomach Until She Died, The Cause Was To Pee On The Floor Not In The Toilet
JAKARTA - A man was sentenced to nine years in prison and 12 lashes for kicking his four-year-old stepdaughter in the stomach until she died.
Quoted from Channel News Asia, this incident occurred on September 1, 2018. At that time Muhammad Salihin Ismail, 29, pushed the poor child to the ground. Followed by a double kick to the stomach as his daughter lay on the floor.
The reason, the child urinated on the floor, not in the toilet. Though it was revealed that the child was being potty trained in preparation for school.
After the assault, the victim complained of stomach pains at night, loss of appetite and periodic vomiting at night. Salihin and the girl's mother put ointment on her stomach.
They did not seek medical attention until the child fainted the next morning. He was then taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
The autopsy found that the child died of blood in the peritoneal cavity due to blunt force trauma to the abdomen.
In March, Salihin was acquitted of murder after Judge Pang Khang Chau found that the prosecution did not prove that he intentionally injured the victim.
The man testified that he reacted angrily when he kicked the girl and "just kicked what was in front of him, which happened to be the victim's stomach", the judge said at the time.
"The defendant's actions when applying ointment to the victim's stomach after complaining of stomach pain confirms that the defendant did not know where the second kick landed," he said.
"Thus, although the defendant had kicked the victim on purpose, there was no intention to hit the part of the body where the wound was found nor was there any intention to strike with sufficient force to cause the type of wound found."
Two other child abuse charges by Salihin against the same victim are being considered for sentencing.
In 2017, he put a shower with hot water flowing out of it on the girl's back for five to six seconds, causing the scar to blister. In 2018, he slammed the girl's head on the floor, causing bruising.
