JAKARTA - The Indonesian contingent was officially released by President Joko Widodo for the 2021 SEA Games. This release ceremony took place in the courtyard of the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday, May 9.
On this occasion, President Jokowi hopes that the Indonesian contingent can achieve the highest achievement. In addition, the Indonesian contingent was also asked to win as many medals as possible.
"For the sake of making our country proud, the Indonesian people," said Jokowi, as reported by Antara.
When the Indonesian contingent was officially released, the Malaysian contingent had already won two gold medals. Quoted from the official website of the SEA Games 2021, the two medals were won from the aquatic sport of the diving discipline.
The two golds were each presented by Nur Dhabitah Sabri, who played in the women's 1m and Ooi Tze Liang/Chew Yiwei, who played in the men's 3m synchronization.
In addition to the two gold medals, Malaysia also won a silver medal from the same sport. The medal was won by Kimberly Bong who went down in the women's 1 meter board number.
With this result, Malaysia temporarily leads the medal standings for the 2021 SEA Games. Hosted by Vietnam, which has already collected one silver and bronze medal.
