Residents Crowded Gembrong Market Hunting For Children's Toys

JAKARTA - A number of residents packed Gembrong Market on Jl. Basuki Rachmat, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, to hunt for children's toys during the Lebaran holiday.

One of the buyers, Dedy, said that he had come to Gembrong Market to buy toys for his son.

"The child has just received THR money from his brothers and sisters. Now, he saw his friends buying toys. We brought them here to eat," said Dedy, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 4.

Dedy said he regularly goes to Gembrong Market every year to buy toys.

According to him, there are various variations of children's toys sold at Pasar Gembrong.

Not only that, the prices offered by traders at Gembrong Market are also still friendly to their pockets.

"It's cheaper here, be smart, we bargain for items too. This is my son, after being picky about toys, finally bought a shooting toy, getting Rp. 95 thousand," said Dedy.

Meanwhile, one of the Gembrong Market toy traders, Umi, said that this year's Lebaran there was an increase in the number of buyers compared to normal days.

"It's said to be quiet or not, but compared to last year it's decreased. Maybe it's because a lot of people are going home, so now it's a bit down. What's important is that trade is still profitable, Alhamdulillah," said Umi.

He said the prices of toys sold at the Gembrong Market varied, ranging from tens of thousands of rupiah for some plastic toys to millions of rupiah for motorbikes and electric mini cars.

Meanwhile, Umi said that shooting toys are a target for boys, while for children, dollhouse settlements and kitchen toy sets are very popular.

"This shooting is seasonal only during Eid. Thank God, today is crowded, because on the first day of Eid yesterday it rained all day. So, it was quiet," said Umi.
