Sandiaga Uno Predicts IDR 72 Trillion Of Money Spinning During Lebaran This Year

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno predicts that this year's Eid will contribute to the circulation of money as much as IDR 72 trillion. The money is circulating in the tourism and creative economy lines.

It is predicted that 60 percent of the Rp72 trillion money will circulate on the island of Java, and 40 percent will revolve outside Java. Sandiaga Uno said that this was a momentum for the rise of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Also business actors in the travel sector. The reason is that this Eid, the government does not prohibit homecoming activities such as the last two years due to the pandemic.

"Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijri brings blessings and special meanings. Everyone is moving again, everyone is alive again," said Sandiaga at the At Taqwa Mosque, Monday, May 2, 2022.

During the Lebaran holiday, people spend their money to buy souvenirs, culinary products, to stay at hotels and tourist villages. Along with the high mobilization of residents, Sandiaga indicated that the hotel occupancy or occupancy rate will increase by 8-10 percent.

Higher increases, he claims, will occur for occupancy in tourist villages.

"This year there is an increase of 30-40 percent in tourist villages," continued the former Deputy Governor of DKI in his written statement.

The government, Sandiaga continued, is promoting 4,200 tourist villages spread throughout Indonesia. Especially for the homecoming momentum, promotions are intensified for tourist villages located on the southern route.

"Because so far it is the Pantura (North Coast route) that has felt the economic pulse, we want the southern route to feel it too," said Sandiaga.
