Police Help Put Out Fires That Scorched 8 Buildings In Jayapura Papua
JAYAPURA - Police personnel from Jayapura, Papua, helped extinguish a fire in 8 buildings that occurred on Jalan Pasar Baru, the Hinekombe complex, Jayapura Regency.
The Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, confirmed the fire incident when it was confirmed. The fire occurred at 14.30 WITA allegedly from EM's Mentari workshop.
"After receiving a report from the public, Jayapura Police personnel swiftly headed to the fire location with a water cannon car and were assisted by the fire department and the surrounding community," Kamal said, quoted from a written statement, Monday, May 2.
The fire is thought to have occurred due to an electrical short circuit in Mentari's workshop that spread to the shop.
"The fire incident destroyed 5 shop houses and 3 houses including BNI Bank, Mentari workshop, Padang restaurant, Nindanja Papua Drinking Water Depot shop, 1 empty shophouse unit and 3 residents' houses," said Kamal.
Losses as a result of this incident are still being recorded. This case is handled by the Jayapura Police Satreskrim.
"After this fire incident, I appeal to the public to routinely check the use of electric current in their workplaces and homes, especially when they want to leave their workplace or home," said Kamal.
