There Is No Way Out When Escaping, A Family In Padang Dies Trapped In The Bathroom

JAKARTA - Three people who died in a fire incident at a motorcycle accessories shop on Jalan Gajah Mada, Mount Pangilun, Padang, West Sumatra (Sumbar), Sunday at around 06.00 WIB were one family.

The three victims are known to be the father, mother and child, namely Aidil (28), Pia (20), and the child Fitra who is still one year old.

"The three victims were inside the shop when the fire broke out and did not have time to escape outside," said Padang City Fire Service Operations Head Sutan Hendra in Padang, Antara, Sunday, May 1.

The victim was found in the bathroom after the blaze was tamed by firefighters. "The fire is thought to have started from the front of the shop, so the victim ran towards the back. Because there was no exit at the back, the victim finally entered the bathroom," he said.

The bodies of the three victims were immediately evacuated from the bathroom by officers and immediately taken to the West Sumatra Police Bhayangkara Hospital.

In addition to the motorcycle accessories shop, the "red rooster" on Sunday morning also destroyed a plot of the shop and seeped into another building unit in a location which is a densely populated area.

To extinguish the fire, the Padang City Fire Department deployed four fire engines.

The police are currently investigating the fire, one of which is to find out the exact cause of the fire.

"We have visited and secured the scene for further processing, including examining witnesses," said Head of Unit III of the Integrated Police Service Center (SPKT) of the Padang Police, Ipda Vemmy Siswandi.

On the other hand, the Padang City Fire Department appealed to the public to remain careful about fire disasters, especially those who want to leave their homes for Lebaran homecoming.

"Make sure the condition of electricity, stoves, gas, fuel oil, or other objects that can trigger a fire before leaving the house," said Sutan Hendra.
