Boyamin Saiman Calls KPK The Courage Of Regents And Lower Classes, Better An Example Of AGO Dare To Reveal Cooking Oil Mafia
JAKARTA - The Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman spoke about the Hand Arrest Operation (OTT) for the Regent of Bogor, Ade Yasin and several parties from the West Java BPK Representative.
He appreciated the actions taken by the KPK, because they managed to catch the hands of the Bogor Regent and a number of other officials. However, Boyamin considered that the KPK could only arrest those with the same level as the Regent.
"Congratulations and appreciation to the Corruption Eradication Commission for being able to carry out this OTT. Even though I still say once again that the KPK is brave with the Regent and the level equivalent or below," Boyamin said when confirmed by VOI, Wednesday, April 27.
"Because yesterday he said he wanted to take care of the Village Fund, so the KPK level is only Regent and below. This is something that I am not proud of," he added.
Therefore, Boyamin hopes that the KPK can eradicate corruption whose level is above the Regent. According to him, there are many more corruption cases whose cases exceed those of the Bogor officials.
As is known, the Attorney General's Office managed to arrest the cooking oil mafia, which involved the Director General of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Trade, Indrasari Wisnu Wardhana, together with three private parties.
"I hope that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will carry out greater corruption eradication work, both in terms of the amount of money and the power involved. This means that there are more opportunities for the regent above the regent," he explained.
"For example yesterday, the cooking oil mafia, the Attorney General's Office was able to reveal. But the KPK has not. (So) It's like not doing anything like sleeping, therefore I hope that this momentum the KPK is able to show its fangs," he continued.
Regarding the prevention of corruption, Boyamin suggested that Bogor be divided into 2 or 3 regions. This is done to prevent the occurrence of similar crimes.
"It should be split into three or at least two into two regencies. So that later it will not tempt regional heads to commit corruption again," he said.
In addition, he asked the KPK to create activities aimed at preventing corruption. He argues, an eradication agency is not only tasked with arresting, but also taking preventive steps.
