Credit Disbursement Breaks Rp1.072 Trillion, Bank Mandiri Earns Rp10 Trillion Profit In Three Months This Year

JAKARTA - PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk managed to record a consolidated net profit during the first quarter of 2022 of IDR 10 trillion. This record grew by 70 percent compared to the same period last year (yoy).

Bank Mandiri President Director Darmawan Junaidi explained that the good business performance was mainly driven by consolidated credit growth of 8.93 percent yoy reaching Rp. 1,072.9 trillion in the first quarter of 2022. Meanwhile, Bank Mandiri's third party fund (DPK) collection penetrated the Rp1,269.0 trillion figure or grew 7.42 percent yoy.

"The growth in deposits was mainly supported by digitalization through Livin' by Mandiri which increased low-cost funds or current account and saving account (CASA) bank only which grew by 10.93 percent YoY to Rp 748.6 trillion with a CASA ratio reaching 75.0 percent," he said. This realization succeeded in driving the growth of Bank Mandiri's assets at the end of the first quarter of 2022 to Rp1,734.1 trillion. It grew by 9.47 percent on an annual basis.

Through this initiative, Bank Mandiri has been able to improve efficiency as reflected in the position of the ratio of operating expenses to operating income (BOPO) at the level of 56.37 percent, far below the industry average.

Darmawan further added that Bank Mandiri's credit growth has been evenly distributed across various segments. The wholesale segment, which is the core competence of Bank Mandiri, was able to grow 7 percent yoy, or reach IDR 549.8 trillion at the end of March 2022.

In addition, thanks to the implementation of the business towards digital, Bank Mandiri's retail credit growth was also able to make positive achievements.

It was recorded that until the first quarter of 2022, Bank Mandiri's total retail loans reached Rp.292.5 trillion, a significant growth of 10.37 percent yoy, mainly driven by the productive micro segment which grew 19.69 percent yoy and SME's which grew 10.97 percent yoy.

The achievement of the Micro segment was mainly supported by the distribution of people's business loans (KUR) of Bank Mandiri amounting to Rp. 10.49 trillion as of March 2022. This realization is equivalent to 26.2 percent of the total KUR ceiling assigned by the government, which is Rp. 40 trillion throughout 2022.

"In encouraging credit expansion, Bank Mandiri always prioritizes the precautionary principle. As a result, our non-performing loan (NPL) ratio continues to improve. Consolidated gross NPL was able to be maintained at a low level of 2.66 percent as of March 2022, a decrease of 49 basis points (bps) from the same position the previous year," concluded Darmawan.
