Lee Kwang Soo's Story Playing Drama The Killer's Shopping List: The Script Is So Exciting

JAKARTA - South Korean actor Lee Kwang Soo returned to the small screen by playing the role of a cashier at a supermarket in the mystery comedy drama The Killer's Shopping List which premiered on Wednesday, April 27. The series is adapted from the novel The Killer's Shopping Mall by Kang Ji-young.

The story follows people who are hunting for the perpetrators of a mysterious murder case that occurred near a supermarket called MS Mart. Lee plays Dae-sung, the son of a supermarket owner, who has an extraordinary memory and starts his own investigation into the case based on a receipt supposedly left by the killer.

"The script was very interesting and exciting, and the characters were completely new to me. I had a lot of fun doing this project. I thought if I missed this opportunity, I might not get another chance to play this interesting character forever," he told a press conference. online, quoted from Yonhap.

He describes Dae-sung's character as a nosy person who is able to memorize every detail of MS Mart visitors. Curious and able to memorize well, Dae-sung is willing to be involved in a murder case.

"Dae-sung is attracted to everything and everyone around him. He likes them. In that aspect, Dae-sung and I are very similar," said Lee as quoted by ANTARA.

The Killer's Shopping List also stars Kim Seol-hyun otherwise known as Seolhyun from K-pop girl group AOA who plays Dae-sung's girlfriend, Ah-hee. This character works as a young police officer who is determined to protect the village and protect his girlfriend.

Seolhyun said she didn't put in more effort to act funnier or look funnier in her first comedy project. He just tried to present the characters as depicted in the script.

"And the long-standing friendship with Lee Kwang-soo helped me create on-screen chemistry that was bigger than expected in the show," said Seolhyun.

Lee himself gained fame among Asian fans thanks to the SBS variety show "Running Man". The series "The Killer" is Lee's first TV series in about four years since the drama "Live" (2018) in which he plays a policeman. During this period, Lee appeared in films, including "Sinkhole" (2021) and "The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure" (2022).
