Rinjani Bangkal Cable Car Boosts Tourist Visits
CENTRAL LOMBOK - The Central Lombok Regency Government, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) said the existence of a cable car to the Mount Rinjani area would support Sport Tourism destinations and increase tourist visits in NTB.
"This cable car is an alternative for tourists who cannot afford to climb to see the beauty of Mount Rinjani," said Head of the Central Lombok Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), Lalu Wiranata di Praya, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, April 27.
The existence of the cable car is considered not to eliminate the work of porters in the Mount Rinjani area, because they already have their own market. The plan to build the Mount Rinjani cable car by investors from China has pros and cons.
"This means that those who are strong in climbing will use the services of a porter and for tourists who are not strong they can use the cable car," he said.
The construction of the cable car is under the authority of the NTB Provincial Government. The cable car will be built in Karang Sidemen Village, North Batukliang District, Central Lombok towards Pelawangan Mount Rinjani.
"This is just a process, officially we still don't know the information," he said.
The construction process is planned to start this year and investors are in the process of conducting an Environmental Impact Analysis (Amdal) and conducting a feasibility study.
"We are still waiting for information from the NTB Provincial Government, the next process is feasible or not for the cable car to be built," he said.
To note, investors from China invested Rp. 100 billion in West Nusa Tenggara to build a cable car to Mount Rinjani and have put Rp. 5 billion in funds as a form of the seriousness of the NTB Provincial Government.
