School Rehabilitation Budget Polemic And Formula E
JAKARTA - The budget for rehabilitation of Jakarta schools for 2020 is cut by the Education Office by IDR 455.4 billion. The Jakarta DPRD PSI faction accused this cut was made to include the costs of implementing Formula E in 2020.
"Ironically, the addition of the Formula E budget has sacrificed activities that are desperately needed by the people," said Idris at the DKI DPRD Building, Wednesday, November 13.
The DKI Provincial Government has denied this accusation. Acting Head of the DKI Jakarta Education Agency, Syaefuloh Hidayat, said this budget changed after corrections were made.
He said that the total rehabilitation of school buildings in the KUA-PPAS design was initially proposed at Rp. 2.57 trillion for 105 locations. Then, the DKI Provincial Government conducts inspection and field observations as well as technical research based on recommendations from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Cipta Karya and Spatial Planning Office. As a result, there was a decrease in the number of schools rehabilitated to 86 locations, as well as a reduction in the proposed budget.
So, the budget cut is not because it is diverted to Formula E.
"We are proposing to adjust the number and budget of school buildings to be rehabilitated to 86 locations with a value of Rp. 2.11 trillion or a correction of Rp. 455.4 billion," said Syaefuloh.
He added, although there was a reduction in the school rehabilitation budget, there was an additional budget for the construction of a new SMK school unit amounting to Rp. 163.3 billion and the construction of new vocational classrooms of Rp. 113.3 billion.
However, the increase in the budget for SMK buildings is not as big as the nominal amount of school rehabilitation that has been cut. "The total addition is Rp. 276.6," he said.
Furthermore, Syaefuloh said that all proposals for budget adjustments, both thickening and reducing, had been submitted and discussed together with the legislature during the deliberations at the Commission forum.
