DKI Dishub Implements Open-Close System In Tanah Abang Market Area
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency applies a situational traffic opening and closing system around Tanah Abang Market, Central Jakarta, in case of congestion in the area.
"Indeed, in Tanah Abang we continue to do 'plotting' officers. Then in certain conditions where the traffic flow that will enter Block A, Block B is so congested, we apply an open-close system," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Service, Syafrin Liputo told reporters, quoted by Antara, Monday, April 25.
In the open-close system there is also a transfer of current. "As soon as they see the density of officers automatically, they will immediately open and close the system," he said.
Syafrin said that the Transportation Service (Dishub) officers were stationed at a number of congestion-prone points. In particular, around the Block A and Block B areas of Tanah Abang Market, crowds often occur.
"In Block A, Block B there are our officers down there. Underneath the arrangements," he said.
Syafrin highlighted one point where congestion often occurs, namely on Jalan H Fachrudin on the north to south sides, where traffic jams can follow to the Jati Baru intersection.
"Therefore, we make arrangements with sometimes very dense directions towards Block A, from the north-south direction of Fachrudin, then the eastward destination will cross to Block A, sometimes we apply open and close. We divert back and forth in the area Jati Baru Park," he said.
Tanah Abang Market is again filled with visitors ahead of Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijriah. As a result, the streets around the market are congested.
