Allegedly Short Electricity, Dozens Of Residents' Houses In Gambir Area Burned
JAKARTA - Dozens of houses and a shop for auto parts in the Kebon Kelapa area, Gambir District, Central Jakarta were hit by a fire, Sunday 24 April. It is suspected that the fire was caused by an electrical short.
Gambir sub-district head Fauzi confirmed that there was a fire in his area. The fires include residents' houses and auto parts shop, which are currently being extinguished.
"The fire is still smoldering, we don't know where the fire came from. Some say it's from a resident's house and some say it's from an auto parts shop," said Head of Head Fauzi when contacted, Sunday, April 24.
Fauzi said his party was still collecting data on how many houses were burned. Later there will be two locations for shelters for houses whose houses caught fire.
"We have prepared two locations, at the Sumur Batu Mosque and the RW Secretariat," he said.
Separately, Head of the Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept. Asril Rizal said his party had deployed dozens of members and a number of cars to extinguish the fire.
His staff did not yet know the cause of the fire that scorched the house and shophouse.
"We don't know the exact cause of the fire, we are still putting out a shophouse that hasn't been extinguished yet," he said.
