Central Java - The poverty rate and maternal mortality rate (MMR) in childbirth are still high in a number of areas in Central Java (Central Java). Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo asked regional heads to pay close attention to the issue.
Especially the regents and city representatives in the Barlingmascakeb area (Banjarnegara, Purbalingga, Banyumas, Cilacap, and Kebumen) as well as in the Bregas Malang area (Brebes, Tegal, Slawi, and Pemalang), Ganjar reminded the importance of serious handling of poverty and maternal mortality.
"Poverty in Bregas Malang and Barlingmascakeb is still quite high," said Ganjar.
He gave an example, the poverty rate in Barlingmascakeb, especially Kebumen Regency reached 17.83 percent, Banjarnegara 16.23 percent, and Purbalingga 16.24 percent, while Bregas Malang like Brebes reached 17.43 percent, followed by Pemalang 16.56 percent.
While the maternal mortality rate in several regions is also quite high and exceeds the province, among others, Brebes is the highest, reaching 105 cases, Pemalang 32 cases, Tegal 30 cases, Banjarnegara 41 cases, Cilacap 45 cases, Banyumas 44 cases, and Kebumen 38 cases.
"Stunting in Tegal Regency is still quite high, reaching 28 percent, please pay attention, the 5Ng program (JateNG GayeNG NginceNG woNG meteNG) must be carried out. It is also important for us to encourage the Jo Kawin Bocah movement," he said, quoted from Antara.
The governor asked the regents and mayors in the Barlingmaskeb area to work hard to reduce extreme poverty and MMR in their respective areas even though they already have a good program.
On the occasion, the Regent of Brebes Idza Priyanti said that one way to reduce poverty in Brebes is to reduce unemployment, because working can certainly increase income and increase the economy.
"We will encourage industrial areas in Brebes. We will also open job vacancies for the community," he said.
