JAKARTA - The sound of explosions and sparks appeared in the logistics room of the Nurul Iman Mosque located on Jalan Nurul Iman, Cipinang Village, Pulogadung District, East Jakarta, Saturday morning, April 23.

Luckily, the fire did not spread widely in the mosque because it was successfully extinguished by local residents.

"We received a report of a fire at around 02.49 WIB. The fire has been extinguished by residents, the officers only took data from the location," said Head of East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Gatot Sulaeman, to reporters, Saturday, April 23, at dawn.

Even though the fire had been extinguished by the residents, East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. officers continued to deploy 3 units of fire engines to the location. A total of 15 personnel were also deployed.

"Because it has gone out, we only collect data from 02.57 WIB until 03.10 WIB," he said.

From the results of the examination, sparks appeared due to an electrical short from the socket. Based on the testimony of witnesses who were inside the mosque during Itikaf, they heard an explosion.

The fire had scorched the room area of 3x6 square meters. As a result of this fire, the loss was estimated at Rp 6 million.
