South Kalimantan Police Anticipate Theft Of Empty Houses During Eid Homecoming
BANJARBURU - The South Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda) anticipates the theft of empty houses when the majority of houses are left home by their owners during Lebaran 2022.
"I have ordered members to increase patrols because burglaries are prone to occur at times like this (homecoming)," said South Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Rikwanto in Banjarbaru, as reported by Antara, Friday, April 22.
He appealed to the public to inform Bhabinkamtibmas if the house was left to go home so that officers would know and monitor it.
This, he said, is so that surveillance can be carried out through patrols and the active role of local residents to help secure the environment where they live.
"So residents who are not going home can help supervise, if there is a suspicious person entering an empty house, they can be identified and immediately reported to the local police officer," explained the Kapolda.
According to Rikwanto, all potential criminal acts and disturbances in the security and social order need to be anticipated because Eid al-Fitr 1443 H is often accompanied by criminal acts in line with the increasing economic needs of the community.
For this reason, the Regional Police Chief appealed to the public not to wear flashy jewelry when going out of the house for women and to remain vigilant.
To maintain security and social security during Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijri, the South Kalimantan Police established 22 security posts and 11 service posts in the 2022 Ketupat Diamond Operation for 12 days starting from April 28 to May 9, 2022.
