All Access In And Out Of South Sumatra Is Predicted To Be Crowded During Lebaran Homecoming, Anywhere?

SUMSEL - The Transportation Service (Dishub) of South Sumatra Province (Sumsel) has mapped the density on the highway during the Lebaran 2022 homecoming moment. The potential for congestion is high in all accesses in and out of South Sumatra.

The Head of the South Sumatra Transportation Agency, Ari Narsa, said that traffic jams could potentially occur on the East Sumatra Cross Road, Central Sumatra Cross Road and enter the inner road of Palembang City.

"Because land travelers have recorded growth, which is estimated to reach more than 50 percent. There are about 4.59 million people who enter South Sumatra during the Lebaran homecoming flow this year," he said in Palembang, Friday, April 22.

However, specifically, he estimates that for the East Cross Road (Jalintim) congestion will occur on Jalan Indralaya-Palembang KM32, Palembang-Betung, Banyuasin, and Sekayu-Bayung Lincir, Musi Banyuasin Regency.

Then the Central Cross Road (Jalinteng) which is estimated to be the center of the congestion is in the Prabumulih, Muara Enim, Martapura areas in East OKU and Jarai in Lahat.

"In addition to the increasing number of road users, the road is relatively narrow, the congestion is also caused by obstacles such as a spilled market and several crowded centers in that location," he said, quoted from Antara.

The spilled market was recorded in several locations, namely Indralaya Market (Ogan Ilir Regency), Tugu Mulyo Market (OKI Regency).

Then, there are also Sungai Lilin-Banyung Licir Markets (Musi Banyuasin Regency), Padang Tepong Markets, Pendopo Markets, Tebing Tinggi Markets (Four Lawang Regency), and Jarai Markets (Lahat Regency).

"Furthermore, congestion will also occur at toll exits and road intersections, the peak of which is predicted to take place on D-3 Lebaran or April 29," he said.

Anticipating this, his party has coordinated with various relevant agencies, including toll road managers to add toll exit gates, so that there is no buildup at exits such as the Keramasan-Ogan Ilir toll road.

"The addition of vehicle exits on the toll road is currently still in the casting process," he said.

The public is also advised to set the departure time so that traffic congestion does not occur so that it becomes jammed due to traveling at the same time.

"Before traveling, get information about the current condition of the area you want to go to from various government media platforms or the local police so that the trip can be smooth," he said.
