Women Convicts In Bengkulu Commemorate Kartini Day
BENGKULU - Class II B Women's Correctional Institution (Lapas) Bengkulu City commemorated Kartini Day with a fashion show which was attended by inmates from among the women.
The head of the Class II B Women's Prison, Gayatri Rachmi Rilowati in Bengkulu, Thursday, said that the inmates or inmates were very enthusiastic about participating in the activity.
"Class II B prisons commemorate Kartini Day, which falls on Ramadan, holding a fashion show competition which was participated by the inmates," said Gayatri.
The activity was carried out, in addition to commemorating Kartini Day, also to explore the potential of the inmates.
As well as training the inmates mentally and courageously to have the confidence to appear in public, especially participating in competitions after serving their sentence in a women's prison.
This is because this activity was carried out for the first time in a women's prison and was the first appearance for the inmates while in prison.
"This is the first appearance of the inmates and they are quite confident and there are prisoners who look tomboyish everyday but when they appear they can be feminine," she said.
One of the inmates at the Class II B Bengkulu Women's Prison, Rika Sonata said that this activity gave her a new experience.
"I feel good because there is an activity like this in prison, I've never done it before and this is the first time," he said.
He hopes that his family, especially his mother, will know that there are activities like this in prison, so there is no need to worry about his condition in prison.
