Bogor Mayor Asks Principal To Encourage Teacher And Student Vaccination Booster

BOGOR - Bogor Mayor Bima Arya Sugiarto asked school principals to help achieve the target of achieving 50 percent booster vaccination before Lebaran 2022 by encouraging teachers, other educators and students in their area to immediately implement it.

"Overall, the booster vaccine for teachers is only 64 percent and we only have nine days to boost it, so that at least it can reach above 90 percent for educators," said Bima Arya as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, April 19.

Bima Arya conveyed that based on the direction of President Joko Widodo, the achievement of booster vaccination was targeted to reach 50 percent when the Lebaran homecoming flow began in each region.

The Mayor of Bogor is now intensifying the vaccination by deploying all regional apparatuses in his area to pursue the target for completion on Tuesday (25/4).

This is to anticipate the homecoming and return flow of residents to the city of Bogor which is very likely to carry the virus from outside the area.

"That's the basic idea, so that everything can be protected, not only those who are going home," he said.

Bima Arya wants to ensure the education and school sectors accelerate for booster vaccinations.

From data from the Bogor City Health Office, on Sunday (17/4) until 20.30 the booster vaccination achievement was 27.27 percent or 223.495 people. Meanwhile, the target of achieving 50 percent of booster vaccinations is 459,222 people out of 819,444 people.

The achievement of the first dose of vaccination was quite good, namely 104.57 percent or 856,924 people and the second dose of vaccination reached 91.95 percent or 753,514 people.

Bima said that from the total data on COVID-19 vaccination achievements in his area, the first dose of vaccination for students from kindergarten to high school level has reached 85 percent and the second dose is 76 percent.

However, he wanted to give notes of some whose numbers are still low so that they can be noticed.

"The numbers are still low, TK aged 6 years and over are only 12.54 percent, RA is only 15 percent, PAUD is still 2 percent, MTS is only 64 percent, and SLB is 52 percent," he said.

While the data on the achievement of booster vaccinations for educators, namely, RA and PAUD are still low, namely RA 37.50 percent, PAUD 41 percent, new elementary school teachers 62 percent, MI teachers 39 percent, junior high school teachers 77 percent, MTS teachers 37 percent, high school teachers 67 percent , 42 percent of MA teachers, and 52 percent of SLB teachers.

In addition to asking for the role of general school principals, Bima also asked his staff to coordinate with the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) of Bogor City to increase booster vaccinations in MI, MTS and MA, whose numbers are still very low.

The head of the Islamic education school is expected to be able to convey the MUI Fatwa Number 15 of 2021 regarding vaccinations that do not break the fast and will not cause symptoms to worry about, on the contrary, conditions show good things.

He also gave two options for educators, first to come to vaccine centers in the nearest village.

"And secondly, if there is a special request, the Bogor City Government will coordinate with the Health Office to create a special center with a note that there must be participants who come, both teachers, educators and students," he said.
