Lili Pintauli's Alleged Ethical Violation Becomes A Spotlight, DPR Speaker: We're Waiting For KPK's Explanation
JAKARTA - The chairman of the DPR, Puan Maharani, said that his party would wait for an explanation from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding a number of alleged ethical violations by KPK Deputy Chair Lili Pintauli Siregar.
This step will be taken considering that Lili has not only violated ethics once. In fact, he was recently reported back to the KPK Supervisory Board for allegedly receiving gratuities in the form of accommodation and Mandalika MotoGP tickets from PT Pertamina (Persero).
"We leave it to the existing legal process, if it is at the KPK, we will wait for the explanation. So there will be no polemics," said Puan to reporters in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 19.
Even so, the PDI-P (PDIP) politician is reluctant to speculate further regarding Lili's ethical violations. Because, Puan said, this problem is an internal problem of the anti-corruption commission and must be explained by the institution itself.
"So the parties concerned must explain this," he said.
As previously reported, Lili allegedly received gratuities in the form of hotel accommodation and tickets to watch the Mandalika MotoGP from a state-owned company.
This complaint was then followed up by the KPK Council by asking for clarification from a number of parties. In addition, Tumpak Hatorangan et al have asked related parties to bring proof of booking accommodation at Amber Lombok Beach Resort and Mandalika MotoGP tickets at the Grandstand Premium Zone A-Red.
This is not the first time this complaint has been made against Lili. On August 30, 2021, the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) Council stated that Lili was proven to have violated the code of ethics and code of conduct, so she was sentenced to severe sanctions.
As for the proven ethical violations, the Human Rights Report issued by the United States (US) Department of Foreign Affairs mentioned it.
In the report, it was stated that Lili was found guilty of violating the code of ethics and behavioral guidelines in the form of abuse of influence as a KPK leader for personal interests and in direct contact with the party whose case was being handled by the KPK, namely the Mayor of Tanjungbalai M Syahrial.
For her actions, Lili was given a severe sanction in the form of cutting her basic salary by 40 percent for 12 months or Rp. 1,848 million.
