Corruption-free Business Climate Form, KPK Establishes Yogyakarta Regional Advocacy Committee
YOGYAKARTA - Establishing a corruption-free business environment, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) inaugurated the management of the Anti-Corruption Regional Advocacy Committee (KAD) for the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) on Thursday, April 14.
The inauguration and signing of the decision letter (SK) of the KAD management was witnessed directly by the Deputy Chair of the KPK Alexander Marwata, the Director of Anti-Corruption Business Entities (AKBU) of the KPK Aminuddin with the Governor of DIY Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X and the Chair of the DIY Chamber of Commerce and Industry GKR Mangkubumi.
During the inauguration ceremony, Alex said that the business sector is a strategic sector as well as prone to corruption because business actors are sometimes forced to practice gratification or bribery to expedite their business processes.
Although the practice of gratification or bribery does not come from the state budget, the giving of gifts or bribes is still categorized as a criminal act of corruption.
"This action is prohibited because it is detrimental to the principle of justice, violates the code of ethics and criminal law which in the end destroys the climate of fair business competition," he said in a written statement, Thursday, April 14.
Alex hopes that KAD DIY can make a real contribution to preventing corruption, especially in the business sector.
"Congratulations and enthusiasm for the work of the administrators and members of the DIY Anti-Corruption KAD, we hope to be able to carry out concrete work programs in preventing corruption, especially in the business sector," said Alex, quoted from Antara.
Meanwhile, Aminuddin conveyed that KAD development was one of the programs to strengthen the focus on improving and preventing corruption in the business world. The establishment of KAD as a forum for communication and discussion to stop bribery practices in the regions through proposals for improvements in the business world.
"We hope that the establishment of KAD in the regions can improve and establish a healthy, clean and corruption-free business climate," said Aminuddin.
He explained that with the inauguration of the DIY KAD management, it was recorded that currently as many as 22 KAD in all regions of Indonesia have been legalized.
KAD is expected to be a forum for dialogue in discussing efforts to rehabilitate a clean and corruption-free business climate and be able to describe the problems faced by business actors and local governments.
Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X also welcomed the program. Through fair and corruption-free business competition, it will provide more benefits for the economic improvement of the people.
Based on data from the KPK's actions, from 2004 to 2021, the private sector was recorded as the most perpetrators of corruption, which was 356 people. Of the types of corruption cases in 2004-2021, the largest was bribery 802 cases and procurement of goods and services as many as 263 cases.
This condition is also one of the backgrounds for the establishment of the AKBU Directorate under the Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring of the KPK. With one of the programs, namely the formation of KAD management to strengthen the prevention of corruption in the business sector in order to create a business climate with integrity.
