NasDem Asks Ministers Who Want To Advance For Presidential Candidates Better To Resign

JAKARTA - The NasDem Party has encouraged four ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, called PDIP senior politician Panda Nababan to run for the 2024 presidential election, to step down from their posts.

Secretary of the NasDem Faction of the DPR RI, Saan Mustopa, said that if the four ministers really wanted to run as presidential candidates, they should not interfere with the performance of the cabinet.

"It's their right to declare that they will run for president in 2024. However, the most important thing is that their intention to run in 2024 does not interfere with their overall performance," said Saan at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, April 14. According to the Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the DPR, it is very important for ministers who want to run in 2024 to consider stepping down from office. Because if they don't step down, said Saan, their concentration will be divided as active ministers. "If they are serious about advancing in 2024, of course they should consider stepping down. "Saan said.

"Not only his performance, but also will interfere with the performance of the government as a whole," he continued. The NasDem Legislator for the West Java Dapil said that, so far, if there are officials who come forward for contestation after the election stages are determined, then usually he will resign from his position.

"In my opinion, for example, if they are really serious about going forward, if they have already declared that they will advance, it's best if they just step back, to concentrate on preparing themselves more optimally to face the presidential election," said Saan.

In addition, Saan considered that if the minister did not step down, it would disrupt the work of the government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"Second, of course it will not interfere with the performance of the Jokowi government in general," he added.

Previously, PDI-P (PDIP) politician Panda Nababan believed that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had rejected the proposal to extend the President's term since the idea first appeared. To strengthen his statement, Panda then revealed a few stories from behind the palace walls related to the 'preparation' for the upcoming 2024 General Election. Panda said Jokowi had gathered his ministers and asked about their desire to run for the 2024 presidential election. A number of ministers have even expressed their desire to run in the 2024 presidential election. So President, Airlangga said, come forward," said Panda. Jokowi also asked the Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, and the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno. In fact, Jokowi also asked the chairman of the DPR, Puan Maharani. The three admitted that they would run in the 2024 presidential election when asked by Jokowi. In addition, the Minister of Defense Prabowo has also been asked by Jokowi. However, Prabowo's answer was not as broad as the other 4 figures. "He asked Prabowo, he said, 'If you have your permission,' Prabowo said," Panda said. Panda's attitude is what Panda believes is a sign that the 2024 election will not be postponed. Moreover, Jokowi has also stated that the next election will still be held on February 14, 2024.
