Inaugurating The Brebes-Tegal Ring Road Of 17.4 Kilometers, Jokowi Hopes Lebaran Homecoming Goes Smoothly

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) hopes that the presence of the 17.4 kilometer Brebes-Tegal Ring Road, Central Java, can be an alternative route to facilitate the flow of Lebaran homecoming this year. Jokowi inaugurated the Brebes-Tegal Ring Road today.

"This road will be one of the alternative routes for Lebaran homecoming so that people's journeys for going home are smoother and reach their destinations faster," said Jokowi in a written statement quoted on Wednesday, April 13.

In addition, the presence of this ring road is expected to complement the structure of the national road network in the northern coast of Java (Pantura) and complete the Trans Java toll road network. Thus, helping connectivity and smooth traffic flow in the Tegal and Brebes areas.

Moreover, according to Jokowi, the traffic density in these two areas has always been very congested, especially ahead of the Lebaran homecoming and other long holidays. With this road, it is estimated that the traffic load in Pantura can be reduced by up to 48 percent.

"The presence of this ring road completes the structure of the national road network in Pantura and also completes the road network on the Trans-Java toll road. We know that the traffic density in Brebes City, Tegal City is very high, traffic has always been very heavy, especially ahead of Lebaran and New Year's homecoming. as well as other holidays," he explained.

Meanwhile, based on data from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), the Brebes-Tegal Ring Road has a width of 7.5 meters for two lanes. Not only that, this road is also equipped with eight bridges, five each in the Brebes area and three bridges in the Tegal area.

The Brebes-Tegal Ring Road has been under construction since 2019 and was completed in April last year. The total budget spent to build this road reached Rp224 billion.
