After Being Rushed To The Hospital, Metro TV Reporter Who Was A Victim Of A Car Accident During A Visit By The Army Chief Of Staff In Merauke Dies
JAKARTA - Head of the Army Information Service (Kadispenad) Brigadier General Tatang Subarna said the Metro TV reporter who had a car accident during a visit by the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Dudung Abdurachman, died.
A Metro TV contributor named Roi Dorsono Rahel who was also in charge of covering Dudung's work visit in Merauke, Papua, was in the car that crashed. This car was different from the one that Dudung was riding in.
Tatang said, Roi was taken to Bunda Pengharapan Hospital for first aid and then referred to Merauke Hospital which has more complete equipment. While in medical treatment, Roi was declared dead.
"One of the media crew who became victims of the accident, Roi Dorsono Rahel, a contributor to Metro TV, finally breathed his last after being treated at the hospital due to bleeding in the head," said Tatang in his statement, Tuesday, April 12.
Chronologically, the car driven by Prada Adi Febrian Napitupulu passed at kilometer 62 from Merauke towards Sota with a vehicle speed of 60 kilometers per hour.
The car in which the victim was traveling pulled out of the right side of the road, so the driver could not control the vehicle. Then the vehicle swerved and overturned. It is suspected that the driver of the vehicle who is also a member of the TNI fell asleep.
When the car overturned, the driver of Prada Adi Febrian Napitupulu, Lt. Cpm I Kadek Adi Suhardiyana, and Br. Roi Dorsono Rahel was thrown out of the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. First Lieutenant Cpm Kadek Adi Suhardiyana was declared dead on the way to the hospital.
"While the other 2 people, Brother Laurens Bawotong and Brother Aldo Waryaan, are still in the vehicle, both suffered minor injuries," said Tatang.
The body of the First Lieutenant Cpm Kadek Adi Suhardiyana, has been carried out a curing and a funeral ceremony. Furthermore, the bodies were flown to the funeral home in Denpasar, Bali.
"The TNI AD expresses deep concern and condolences for the death of Mr. Roi Dorsono Rahel and hopes that the other injured victims can be treated as well as possible in the hospital," he added.
