The Fate Of The Indonesian Futsal National Team To Participate In The SEA Games Hanoi 2021 Is Still Gray

JAKARTA - The manager of the men's national futsal team, Dimas Bagus Kurniawan, said that the opportunity for the futsal team to be dispatched to the 2021 SEA Games in Hanoi was still unclear. However, the support for the Indonesian futsal team to appear in Hanoi continued to arrive.

"I also can't confirm that 100 percent will leave or 100 percent will not go. However, what is certain is that the federation is currently coordinating with the government/Kemenpora," he said when contacted by VOI, Monday, April 11.

To note, the Indonesian futsal national team is not included in the sport that will be dispatched to the biennial event based on the results of the analysis of the Indonesian contingent review team.

The results of the analysis say that futsal is considered to have no potential to get a medal. However, recently there has been pressure to demand the review team to reconsider the decision when the futsal national team becomes runner-up in the 2022 AFF Cup.

Recently, a petition has even emerged from a group calling themselves National Team Supporters. This group demands that the Ministry of Youth and Sports be urged to send the Indonesian futsal national team to Hanoi on May 12-23.

"We as Supporters of the Indonesian National Team are disappointed with the news that the Indonesian Futsal National Team is planned to be excluded from the SEA Games in May 2022 in Hanoi," the petition reads.

In the petition, the National Team Supporters also described a series of futsal national team achievements to deny the reason for the review team. Among them won the 2010 AFF Cup.
