Then, six basic commodities were dropped, namely shallots, curly red chilies, red cayenne peppers, salted fish, dry shelled corn, and vegetable tomatoes.
"Nine basic commodities experienced an increase due to high demand from the public. Based on coordination with the Kulon Progo Agriculture and Food Service (DPP), the condition of basic needs commodities was in a surplus even though prices had increased," said Sudarna, quoted from Antara, Saturday 9 April.
He said the price of kating garlic in early March 2022 was Rp. 28,167 per kilogram, in early April or early Ramadan it rose to Rp. 37,500 per kilogram, chicken meat from Rp. 33,883 rose to Rp. 37,334 per kilogram, imported soybeans from Rp. 12 .080 rose to Rp12,500 per kilogram, and local soybeans increased by Rp11,983 to 12,667 per kilogram.

The Regent of Kulon Progo Sutedjo asked the Ministry of Meat and the Department of Agriculture and Food to work together to overcome the spike in the prices of basic necessities in the community during this Ramadan. Price increases below 25 percent are still reasonable, the most important thing is that the availability of basic needs is safe.
"The increase in the price of basic needs is very reasonable because economic law applies. The higher demand and stable availability, the price will increase. We only ask for the availability of safe and sufficient basic needs," he said.
