Ministry Of Religion Asks Congregants To Obey Prokes When Performing Ramadan Worship

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) asked the congregation to continue to comply with the COVID-19 health protocols (prokes) when carrying out worship during the month of Ramadan until Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijriyah.

"Worship in the months of Ramadan and Eid should still refer to the COVID-19 health protocol," said Director of Islamic Religious Affairs and Sharia Guidance at the Directorate General of Islamic Guidance at the Ministry of Religion, Adib, as quoted by Antara, Friday, April 8.

The implementation of worship during Ramadan must also adjust the status of the level of implementation of community activity restrictions (PPKM) in the local area.

"So the capacity of places of worship used for congregational prayers must still refer to the provisions regarding the prevention of COVID-19," he said.

The implementation of health protocols is not only during worship activities during Ramadan, but also during social activities.

"During Ramadan and Eid, he continued, of course there will be traditions and friendships, it's okay to do that but still maintain health protocols," he said.

He said that as good citizens, we should all be responsible for tackling COVID-19.

"The worship we are currently carrying out must of course implement health protocols, we must remain vigilant about the transmission of COVID-19 by following the recommendations that have been given by the government," he said.

The public is also asked to complete vaccinations to protect the people around them.

"Don't let the consequences of our negligence harm the people around us, our families, our loved ones, maybe even ourselves," Adib said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Association of Public Health Experts (IAKMI) Ede Surya Darmawan asked the public to immediately carry out tests after carrying out social interactions even though they did not show symptoms.

"When you experience symptoms, immediately get tested so that our condition is immediately known and we get services as soon as possible," he said.
