100 Bitcoins Suspected Of Belonging To Satoshi Nakamoto Moved To Another Wallet After 12 Years Of Inactivity
JAKARTA – A Bitcoin address that has been inactive for 12 years suddenly sent 100 BTC which was divided into two transfers. Bitcoin whale tracker WhaleAlert reported the findings in his Twitter post.
Meanwhile, DailyHodl reports Blockchain data monitoring tool BTCparser said that two previously active Bitcoin addresses in 2009 had moved a combined 100 Bitcoins just minutes apart, as Whale Alert tracked in a series of tweets.
The older of the two addresses was created on November 22, 2009, and just sent a little over 50 Bitcoins to an unknown address. The newer of the two addresses was created on November 23, 2009 and has just sent a little over 50 Bitcoins to another unknown address.
While the two addresses originally held 50 Bitcoins each, they have received small amounts of BTC during their more than a decade of existence. A small amount of Bitcoin sent to this address is likely called a “dusting attack,” which is usually an attempt to reveal the identity of the wallet holder.
It is Bitcoin that was mined from the early generations. Traders are watching the movement of Bitcoin because they want to see the possibility of Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto making a withdrawal or transfer of his BTC. Nakamoto himself is predicted to have one million Bitcoins which is worth more than 43 billion US dollars (Rp617 trillion) at the current Bitcoin price.
Meanwhile, the activity from the two addresses above occurred less than eleven months after BTC was first mined, namely in January 2009 . That first mining incident also happened less than 12 months before Satoshi disappeared.
The last publicly known digital footprint, also known as “Satoshi Nakamoto's last sighting” occurred in December 2010 on the BitcoinTalk online forum. Back then the creators of BTC were talking about a Bitcoin software update designed to prevent denial of service (DDoS) attacks.
In November 2009, the price of Bitcoin was trading at 0.001 US dollars per coin. While at the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at a price of IDR 625,916,985. The price of BTC has increased by 0.2 percent in the last 24 hours based on data from Coingecko.
