Anies Mentions That His Position Cannot Be Extended, Making The UGM Mosque Noisy, While Cheerfully He Says: Why The Applause?
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan gave a statement that made the congregation for the Tarawih prayer at the UGM Campus Mosque boisterous. Anies mentioned his term of office which will expire and cannot be extended.
He said this while delivering a Tarawih prayer lecture at the UGM Campus Mosque on Thursday, April 7 evening.
"Alhamdulillah, this year, I have entered 5 years (as Governor of DKI Jakarta). Six more months to retire. There is no extension (of position), because," said Anies in a Youtube broadcast of the UGM Campus Mosque, quoted on Friday, April 8.
Suddenly, Anies' statement made the atmosphere of the UGM Campus Mosque noisy. There was laughter followed by applause from the congregation in the mosque. Responding to this commotion, Anies' face brightened.
"Eh, why the applause? Danger," said Anies with a smile.
The former Minister of Education and Culture resumed the conversation. He claimed, for more than four years in charge, Jakarta was enveloped in an atmosphere of calm and shade.
"So I will be in October tomorrow if there are no obstacles, no changes, it will be completed. During these 4 and a half years, thank God, tranquility, shade, it was built. build a sense of togetherness, serenity, it can't be photographed," he explained.
Furthermore, shortly after Anies closed his lecture, he received shouts of "president!". The call was shouted repeatedly by the congregation of the mosque on campus who is also Anies' alma mater.
This can be seen from various videos circulating on social media. In the video, Anies was shouted "President!" while still in the pulpit after filling the lecture until he came out of the mosque.
Along with the shouts, Anies was surrounded by congregants who wanted to shake Anies' hands and capture photos and videos of Anies' presence via their respective cell phones. Anies also had difficulty getting out of the mosque because of the dense congregation that surrounded him.
