Hundreds Of Prisoners In Palembang Rutan Injected With Booster Vaccines

JAKARTA - Officials from the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) South Sumatra and the Regional State Intelligence Agency (Binda) of South Sumatra provide booster COVID-19 vaccinations to prisoners or correctional inmates (WBP).

The booster vaccine was given to hundreds of WBP and officers at the Class 1 Pakjo State Detention Center (Rutan) in Palembang, South Sumatra, Wednesday, April 6, quoted from Antara.

The Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of South Sumatra, Harun Sulianto, explained that during the activity, there were 137 WBP and detainees as well as 16 officers at the Pakjo Detention Center who were given booster COVID-19 vaccinations.

"We would like to thank Binda Sumsel for the good synergy in accelerating vaccinations for WBP and detainees in prisons, detention centers and LPKA in South Sumatra," he said.

He hopes that through this collaboration, about 16,000 inmates and detainees spread across 20 prisons and remand centers can all be vaccinated with the first, second and booster doses.

Harun also asked his staff to continue to implement strict health protocols (prokes) to anticipate the transmission of the corona virus in prisons, detention centers and LPKA even though they have been vaccinated.

Meanwhile, the Head of Binda Sumsel, Brigadier General Armansyah, on that occasion added that this activity was a follow-up to President Joko Widodo's direction in the accelerated vaccination program towards 'Indonesia Herd Immunity 2022'.

In accelerating this vaccination, Binda Sumsel carried out vaccinations with a target of 300,000 doses per month and 10,000 doses per day in 17 districts/cities in the local province.

Kabinda Sumsel said inmates in prisons, detention centers, LPKA Sumsel also become targets of this vaccination activity because they have the same rights.

"To meet this target, Binda Sumsel cooperates with the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of South Sumatra to accelerate vaccination of inmates in this province," said Kabinda Sumsel.
