Moving Forward To Become OJK Chair, Mahendra Siregar Claims To Have Been Approved By Foreign Minister Retno And President Jokowi
JAKARTA - Candidate for Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Mahendra Siregar admitted that he had requested permission from two high-ranking state officials with the intention of leading the OJK in the next five years.
Meanwhile, the two bureaucrats in question are Minister of Foreign Affairs (Menlu) Retno Marsudi and President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Mahendra himself was listed as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for the 2019-2024 period.
"I have obtained permission from my superiors, both from the President and Mrs. Overseas so that we can register to focus on becoming the Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners," he said via a virtual channel on Wednesday, April 6.
On this occasion, Mahendra explained about the six priority actions within his framework. First, increasing the effectiveness of OJK's leadership.
Two, strengthening the structure of the Non-Bank Financial Industry (IKNB) and the capital market. Third, one-stop service. Four, Improving the effectiveness of supervision, examination, investigation and follow-up.
Then, five are effective cooperation and coordination with regulators and other institutions. And the sixth is full synergy with the government, DPR, and state institutions.
"For the first 100 days, we will increase the capability and resources of the supervisory function," he said.
