3 Villages In North Gorontalo Submerged By Flood

GORONTALO - Three villages in Monano District, North Gorontalo Regency, Gorontalo, were flooded.

Head of the North Gorontalo Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Asri Ode Muisi, said that the floods had submerged the three villages since 15:00 WITA due to high rainfall causing the Zuriati, Monas and Monano watersheds to overflow.

"The village government has reported the condition. Thank God the affected people received assistance, including from the local TNI and Polri to evacuate to a safe place," he said as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, April 5.

His party is still coordinating with the sub-district and village governments regarding the current conditions in the affected areas, namely Zuriati, Monas and Monano villages.

Meanwhile, other villages, such as Mokonowu, Tudi and Pilohulata, are in a safe and controlled condition.

Head of Zuriati Village, Rikson Lewo, said that high rainfall triggered the flooding because river water overflowed and inundated residents' settlements as well as village roads.

"Not only does water soak the settlements, residents are also busy cleaning up the thick mud material," he said.

So that the help of water and mud suction devices is expected to be deployed, especially to clean the mosques that are also submerged.

His party, he said, also did not know the total number of affected residents considering the flood was still inundated until tonight.

"However, we have informed the district government of this condition to get help as soon as possible considering that currently Muslims in the area are fasting," he said.
