Without Stephen Curry, Warriors Rise With Klay Thompson Beat Jazz 111-107

JAKARTA - Klay Thompson scored 12 of his 36 points in a streak of 18-0 in the fourth quarter as the Golden State Warriors came back to win 111-107 over the visiting Utah Jazz in San Francisco, Saturday night local time (Sunday WIB).

That near-impossible win, after they trailed by 21 points, allowed the Warriors (49-29) to claim a spot in the postseason. They increased their lead over the Dallas Mavericks (48-30) to a full game over a four-team duel for the third seed in the Western Conference.

According to a Reuters report on Sunday, April 3, Thompson completed 8 of 17 3-point attempts and the Warriors made 20 of 48 attempts, including 6 of 7 in an 18-point barge that turned a 16-point deficit into their first advantage of the night at 105. -103 with three minutes 33 seconds remaining.

Utah never took the lead again, but came close again when, 106-107 down with 49.7 seconds remaining, Rudy Gobert broke through the Golden State defense for a point-blank effort. But Draymond Green blocked the shot, allowing the Warriors -- with the help of two free throws apiece from Jordan Poole and Green -- to hold on and snap a four-game losing streak.

Poole finished the game on 31 points, making six of his 15 trippoint attempts. Even without the injured Stephen Curry, the Warriors beat the Jazz 60-45 from behind the arc.

Andrew Wiggins scored 17 points for Golden State, while Green had seven assists and eight rebounds to round out his 10 points. Gary Payton II added 10 points off the bench as the Warriors won the season's draw against the Jazz 3-1.

Guards Donovan Mitchell and Mike Conley each scored 26 points for Utah, while Gobert recorded his third double-double in three attempts against the Warriors this season with a game-high 14 points and 20 rebounds. Conley also found time to score the highest assists in a game, eight.

Bojan Bogdanovic had 17 points and Jordan Clarkson 14 for Utah, who lost despite winning 16-11 on the foul line over the Warriors and on a 47-41 rebound.

Hunting for a second straight win after losing five in a row, the Jazz shot up to a 7-0 lead and jumped 10 points at the end of the first quarter and 21 in the second.

The Warriors trailed 87-103 with 7 minutes 54 seconds remaining before capitalizing on their three-point streak to take the lead until the end of the game.
