Visiting Maspion Factory, LaNyalla Confessed To Once Debt Rp180 Million To Conglomerate Alim Markus: I Give Up, If You Want To Be Imprisoned Go Ahead

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DPD RI, AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti had the opportunity to make a working visit to the PT Maspion 1 Aloha Waru factory in the Sidoarjo area, East Java. During the visit, LaNyalla was received directly by the President Director of PT Maspion Group conglomerate Alim Markus.

As it turned out, the two were longtime friends as entrepreneurs. On that occasion, LaNyalla said that around 1990, when she first started as an entrepreneur, LaNyalla initiated a business exhibition in Surabaya. At that time, the Senator from East Java met with Alim Markus for a loan for the event he had initiated.

"I met Mr. Alim Markus to borrow capital. I conveyed my intentions and goals. As a result, Mr. Alim Markus agreed to my idea and the exhibition took place," said LaNyalla, in a written statement, Friday April 1.

Unexpectedly, the exhibition, which was initiated for the first time, failed. LaNyalla lost and had to owe Rp180 million to Alim Markus. At that time, LaNyalla met Alim Markus. He said what really happened.

"I conveyed about the losses I experienced. I surrendered. I told Pak Alim Markus that I was bankrupt, if you want to go to prison, go ahead," recalled LaNyalla.

However, LaNyalla said, Alim Markus was still kind to him. "Pak Alim said that I am a young person who has enthusiasm, I will not be imprisoned. Finally, I said, I will pay in installments of Rp. 250,000 every month," said LaNyalla.

Alim Markus agreed. However, LaNyalla even offered to ask Alim Markus to lend him Rp5 million in capital to make the exhibition back.

"It was 1991 and Pak Alim Markus agreed to my loan again. Finally, with a capital of Rp. 5 million, I made another proposal to hold another exhibition," said LaNyalla.

Luckily this time it was successful. Three months before it was held, all available stands were sold out. He was also able to pay off his debt to Alim Markus of Rp. 180 million.

"So, Pak Alim Markus is one of the people who raised me. The services of Pak Alim Markus and Maspion are so great for me. For me, Pak Alim Markus is a teacher. In fact, it is," said LaNyalla.

Alim Markus only agreed with what LaNyalla said. He saw the figure of young people with a myriad of creativity and high spirits at that time in LaNyalla.

"Yes, that's indeed Mr. LaNyalla. His enthusiasm is extraordinary. His confidence is high. I am an old friend with Mr. LaNyalla. And I am proud of him," said Alim Markus.

During the meeting, the Chairman of the DPD RI was accompanied by the Expert Staff of the Chairman of the DPD RI Baso Juherman. Meanwhile Alim Markus was accompanied by a number of members of the All-Indonesian Workers Union (SPSI) throughout the PUK Maspion Group.
