Pilgrims Who Come To Tegal Alur TPU Get Free Masks To Prevent COVID-19
JAKARTA - The Tegal Alur Public Cemetery (TPU), Kalideres, West Jakarta, continues to implement health protocols. Officers distribute masks to pilgrims ahead of the month of Ramadan."There is a distribution of masks that we do during the grave pilgrimage ahead of Ramadan fasting, we go around the tomb," said Head of the Tegal Alur TPU Implementing Unit Wawin Wahyudi when met at the grave site in Jakarta , Friday April 1, reported by Antara.
Wawin said the distribution of masks was carried out every 09.00, 11.00 and 14.00 WIB. This effort is to anticipate visitors who do not bring standard masks, or require additional masks during their pilgrimage.
He said the peak of this year's pilgrimage took place on March 27 and most of them were pilgrims from outside the city of Jakarta.
As for the distribution of masks, Wawin said the Tegal Alur TPU also provides hand washing facilities at the gate of the 58-hectare tomb.
Anticipating overcrowding due to the large number of pilgrims who came to the tomb, Wawin said his party provided three times the usual security guard to regulate the flow of pilgrims.
"The peak of the Ramadan 2022 pilgrimage will be on Sunday, because people actually use their spare time for pilgrimages. We provide three times more security than usual, and impose a capacity of 75 percent of visitors," he said.
Tegal Alur TPU is one of the tombs designated by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government as a burial place for bodies exposed to COVID-19. The graves of COVID-19 victims at that location consist of 4,700 Islamic tombs and 1,800 Christian tombs.
Since 2021, the location has not received any new COVID-19 burials, except for services for inter-family graves.
