Jakarta Jams Again Until Air Quality Enters The 4th Worst Category In The World, Deputy Governor Riza Talks About Easing Activities
JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria acknowledged that there is a possibility that Jakarta will return to traffic jams due to the many easing related to the control of the COVID-19 pandemic in the capital city.
"And this could be one of the causes of the air quality in Jakarta being in the 4th worst category in the world as of this Thursday," he said, quoted by Antara, Thursday, March 31.
However, Riza confirmed that his party will check the data to find out the exact cause of why the air quality in Jakarta is bad, as well as whether the data is valid.
"Later, we will actually check, whether the data can be believed to be true. We will check it," said Riza.
Based on the IQAir website, Thursday, at 13.28 WIB, the air quality index (AQI) in Jakarta was at 166 US AQI.
"The AQI index is immediately unhealthy," reads a statement on the IQAir website.
The concentration of PM 2.5 in the air in Jakarta this Thursday was 17 times above the WHO's annual air guidance.
Meanwhile, based on the BMKG website, PM 2.5 is an air particle smaller than 2.5 microns (micrometers).
"The concentration of PM 2.5 in the air in Jakarta is currently 17 times above the WHO annual air quality guideline value," he said.
Meanwhile, IQAir reported that the weather in Jakarta this Thursday was foggy, with a temperature of 32 degrees Celsius. Humidity 58 percent, wind speed 14.8 kilometers per hour and air pressure 1,009 mb.
