The Violent Action At Elelim Papua Not Only Killed The Army Officer And His Wife, The Child In The Arms Was Also Hacked By The Perpetrators
PAPUA - A non-commissioned village supervisor at the Yalimo Koramil Post, First Sergeant Eka Andriyanto, and his wife who is a health worker in Elelim, were beaten and shot to death.
It is not yet known which group was involved in the action on Thursday, March 31 at around 06.00 WIT.
The commander of Korem 172/PWY, Brigadier General Izak Pangemanan admitted that from reports received, an armed group attacked members and their families who were at their shophouse in Elelim, Papua.
As a result, Supriyanto died on the spot from a gunshot wound, while his wife, Sri Lestari, lost her life from a sharp object wound.
Even their partner's son, EP (2.5 years), had two fingers cut off due to being hit by a sharp weapon while in his mother's arms.
"It is not yet known who the perpetrator is because it is still being investigated, especially since the two couples have served in Elelim for quite a long time," Pangemanan said as reported by Antara.
He stated that at the scene of the incident a bullet casing was found which was thought to have come from an AK-47 assault weapon of 7.52 mm caliber.
Supriyanto's body will be buried at the Korem 172/PWY Headquarters in Waena, Jayapura, before being flown tomorrow for burial in his hometown in East Java.
"This husband and wife leave two children under five," said Pangemanan. This incident is arguably the first time a member of the Indonesian Army has been attacked by an armed group with his wife.
