Megah Eraraharja, This Company Owned By Anthony Salim Denies Having Ownership Of More Than 5 Percent Of Shares In Chairul Tanjung's Mega Bank
JAKARTA - The company owned by conglomerate Anthony Salim, PT Indoritel Makmur Internasional Tbk (DNET) responded to reports about PT Megah Eraraharja controlling more than 5 percent of shares in the bank owned by conglomerate Chairul Tanjung, PT Bank Mega Tbk (MEGA).
"We can say that it is not true that the Company's Controller, in this case PT Megah Eraraharja, controls more than 5 percent of the share ownership in Bank Mega," explained DNET management, in an information disclosure on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) website, Wednesday 30 March.
Management continued, in POJK No.11/POJK.04/2017 concerning Ownership Report or Any Change in Share Ownership of a Public Company, it states that only shareholders who own at least 5 percent have the obligation to report ownership or any change in share ownership of a Public Company.
"There is no other important information/event that is material and can affect the life of the company and can affect the company's share price," continued DNET management.
Previously reported, the efforts of companies in the Salim Group to have a spur in the banking business are increasingly visible. Most recently, the conglomerate that once owned PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) is trying to build an empire in the financial sector by continuing to collect shares of the bank owned by conglomerate Chairul Tanjung, namely PT Bank Mega Tbk (MEGA).
Citing several sources, it was stated in the publication of the Indonesian Central Securities Depository (KSEI) that Indolife Pensiontama, which is the life insurance company of the Salim Group, holds 568.63 million shares equivalent to 8.17%.
Then Megah Eraraharja, the controlling company of Indoritel Makmur Internasional (DNET) holds 539.86 million shares or 7.75 percent (although this was refuted). There is also Indofood Sukses Makmur (INDF) which holds 503.64 million shares equivalent to 7.23 percent.
Not only that, Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur (ICBP) holds 355.59 million shares or 5.11 percent. Whereas previously, the presence of the Salim Group at Bank Mega was only through Indolife Pensiontama with a 5.7 percent share ownership.
Previously, the Salim Group also narrowed down 1.33 billion shares of Bank Ina Perdana (BINA) or equivalent to 22.47 percent.
In addition, Anthony Salim also owns 5.51 billion shares or the equivalent of 9 percent in Elang Mahkota Teknologi (EMTK). EMTK through Elang Media Visitama has a dominant stake in Bank Fama Internasional. Indirectly, the Salim Group has a stake in Bank Fama through Anthony Salim.
In his own group, Salim has a complete financial sector tentacle, starting from Central Asia Insurance (ACA) with its subsidiary Central Asia Raya or CAR Life Insurance. There is also Central Asia Financial or Jagadiri. It didn't stop there, the group also invested in Youtap, a fintech focused on merchants.
More broadly, the Salim Group also has tentacles from the retail sector to FMCG such as Indomaret, Indogrosir, Indofood Group, and the palm oil business. In terms of technology, Salim is in the internet network business. PT Indoritel Makmur Internasional Tbk (DNET) diversifies its business into businesses in the telecommunications sector.
