3 Gold Shop Robbers In Medan Sentenced To 11 Years In Prison

MEDAN - Three defendants in the robbery of a gold shop at Simpang Limun Market, Medan City were sentenced to 11 years in prison. Meanwhile, another defendant named Dian Rahmat was sentenced to 7 years in prison.

The panel of judges at the Medan District Court (PN) assessed that the four defendants were believed to be guilty of robbery at 2 gold shops at Simpang Limun Market in 2021.

In the trial which took place virtually in the Cakra 9 room, the Panel of Judges chaired by Denny Lumbantobing said the three defendants who were sentenced to 11 years in prison were Paul Jhon Alberto Sitorus, Prayogi alias Bedjo and Farel Ghifari Akbar. This verdict is the same as the prosecutor's demands.

Meanwhile, another defendant named Dian Rahmat was sentenced to 7 years in prison. This verdict is lighter than the demands of the Prosecutor who demanded 8 years in prison.

In that case, it was the defendant Dian who introduced the late Hendrik Tampubolon with the three accused 'executors' of the robbery.

"From the facts revealed at the trial, the elements of the criminal indictment Article 365 paragraph (2) to 2e, 4e of the Criminal Code are believed to have been proven," said Denny.

In his ruling, the judge also ordered the public prosecutor to return the gold stolen by the defendants to its owner. Responding to the judge's verdict, the defendant and the public prosecutor expressed their thoughts.

The indictment presented the prosecutor about the chronology of the robbery. After meeting with Hendrik Tampubolon, last August 2021, the defendant Dian Rahmat then introduced the three 'executors'. He was promised to get a share if the robbery went smoothly.

The late Hendrik Tampubolon and the three defendants also prepared all the equipment such as long-barreled rifles, short-barreled (FN) guns, bayonets, sebos and motorbikes. But at that time, the late Hendrik had not announced the target of the robbery.

"Bang, we want to rob a gold shop at Simpang Limun. Later, you will see that the robbery will go viral. That's why I bought these items to rob later," said the public prosecutor, imitating the defendant Farel's sentence to Dian Rahmat on his way home.

Sure enough. Dian Rahmat, Thursday, August 26, 2021, through the news on television was informed of the robbery of a gold shop at Simpang Limun.

After observing the defendant Dian, the characteristics of the perpetrators were exactly like the late Hendrik Tampubolon, Paul Jhon Alberto Sitorus, Farel Ghifari Akbar and witness Prayogi alias Bedjo.

From the armed robbery, the defendants stole a number of jewelry from Masrul Gold Shop owned by Ade Irawan as many as 7 clear plastic clip packs containing bracelets, necklaces, rings, earrings, pendants belonging to Masrul F Shop with a gross weight of 3116.51 grams.

Then, 4 packs of plastic clips containing bracelets, necklaces, rings, earrings, pendants, hair plugs belonging to Toko Mas Aulia Chan, owned by witness Kasmawati, with a gross weight of 2,418.45 grams.
