Hungary Receives 40 Units Of Turkey's Gidran Armored Vehicle, Has 10 Configuration Variants
JAKARTA - Hungarian Deputy Defense Minister Gaspar Maroth said 40 units of the Gidran tactical wheeled armored vehicle, manufactured in Turkey, were sent to the country's Armed Forces.
Gidran is the name given to the Turkish company Nurol Makina's Ejder Yaln 4x4 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle, which is manufactured under license.
Quoting Daily Sabah on March 20, Gaspar Maroth said that around 100 units of similar vehicles are planned to be produced directly in Hungary.
Nurol Makina said in a statement that the recently established Hungarian branch of the Turkish armored vehicle factory signed a cooperation agreement for the production of armored vehicles in the country, together with local authorities and partners.
Nurol Makina made her debut in the European market by launching her first company overseas in Hungary on March 17. Nurol Makina has made a name for herself with recent export success.
It meets the needs of allied countries as well as Turkey with 4x4 wheeled armored vehicles such as the Yörük and Ejder Yaln, which are manufactured at modern facilities in the capital Ankara.
Turkish defense industry companies introduce new products and vehicles with enhanced capabilities to users around the world in 2021, General Manager Nurol Makina Engin Aykol told Anadolu Agency (AA).
With the establishment of Nurol Makina Hungary, activities such as design, production and assembly will be carried out with local partners in Hungary. Specific solutions to the needs will be developed by inclusion in the Hungarian army modernization project. In addition, support will be received from Hungarian engineers.
Earlier, local news said that the Hungarian army will receive more than 300 new military vehicles, and the project is based on the Turkish Ejder Yaln MRAP 4x4 family of military vehicles.
It is known that the acquisition of a new family of 4x4 military vehicles for the armed forces began in 2018. The Ejder Yalçın 4x4 comes in 10 different configurations developed for various combat and support missions. These vehicles are preferred in many countries in the Middle East, Gulf, Asia, Africa and Europe.
Launching the company website, the vehicle configuration includes command and control vehicle, anti-tank guided missile vehicle, air defense missile vehicle, radar vehicle, personnel carrier vehicle, border surveillance & security vehicle, armored cmbat vehicle, jammer vehicle, mine-IED detection- clearance vehicles and CBRN vehicles.
This vehicle appears as one that could be part of a joint operation, carried out with the next generation of technology vehicles found in the NATO inventory.
To note, the Ejder Yaln has been tested and used in the field by both Turkey and international military units and security forces.
